Começa em 2011 a construção do Complexo Artístico – Teatro da Dança, em São Paulo. Seus números grandiosos têm despertado apreensão na classe artística no que diz respeito à concentração de investimentos num único projeto. Diante disso, alguns artistas se reuniram e escreveram uma carta aberta ao secretário de Estado de Cultura, João Sayad. O idança ouviu os dois lados da história. 2010 is starting full of news! In this first newsletter of the year (sent exceptionally on Friday) we highlight a report about the many Brazilian and international call-for-entries that are open in January. Festivals, showcases and financing programs of different kinds. Check out the dates and make your plans.
We also publish another text of the 7×7 series. This time, Andréia Nhur writes about two of Marrocan artist Taoufiq Izeddiou’s shows. This is the third article of the series proposed by Sheila Ribeiro, which will bring together seven young artists to write about seven pieces presented during Festival Contemporâneo de Dança, held in November, in São Paulo. Read all of them!
The week’s third highlight is a report about a controversial issue for the city of São Paulo, the construction of a large artistic complex for performing arts. The huge amount of money spent in only one building has raised the suspicions of the artistic community. Some artists gathered to write an open letter for the state’s culture secretary, João Sayad.
